"Australia captain Meg Lanning won't take part in next month's Ashes tour in England due to medical reasons, Cricket Australia (CA) has announced today.

Lanning has been ruled out on the advice of CA's medical staff due to an issue which requires management from home with Alyssa Healy to captain the side in her absence, while Tahlia McGrath has been installed as vice-captain."

Big workload for Healy...

AAP:

Keeping workloads prompt Test role rethink for Healy

https://www.cricket.com.au/news/alyssa- ... 2023-05-26

'Australia could be forced to blood an entirely new-look opening combination in next month's women's Ashes Test with Alyssa Healy considering dropping down the order to manage workloads.

Healy has opened for Australia in the last three Tests dating back to 2019, taking on the role she has regularly occupied in the white-ball game.

But the vice-captain is wary of the impact keeping wicket will have on her in Test cricket.'

[And that was before the Lanning news.]

Looks like Stokes gets his desired decks, not only for the Men.

Had to blink when I checked the Womens' warm-up matches scores.

England A second innings: 9/562, against the Aussie Women.

England second innings 7/611 against Oz A.

England A: 2 centuries and an 88.

In the other match, Tammy Beaumont retired hurt on 201.

"Annabel Sutherland hit a superb century and Phoebe Litchfield likewise impressed with bat in hand as Australia’s batters made the most of the final day of their warm-up match against England A in Leicester.

Sutherland was promoted to the top of the order alongside Litchfield, as Beth Mooney slid down having already scored a hundred in the first innings, and stroked her way to 116 from 138 deliveries as the tourists ended the drawn three-day game on a positive note.

The teams shook hands with Australia 7-371 in their second dig, an improvement on their first innings total of 284 all out."
