The coward Hird is not even here to face the music. He's slunk off to the US.

He'll slink back after Tania's cried on TV so people feel sorry for them.

Not to worry Woodsy and Dave, he's had his fun and indulged his ego and it's got him absolutely sweet f@ck all.

Now it's time for him to take a deep breath and prepare to spread 'em.

If any of the players go down he is so TACFUBAR!!!

For those interested in the findings of the Federal Court, it has just published them on its web site at: http://www.judgments.fedcourt.gov.au/ju ... 5fcafc0007

(its a long and tortuous read of leagalese, but if you scroll down to the last few pages to the concluding statements you'll get the gist of it)

I thought he had a snowballs chance in hell of overturning the ruling. To get the full bench of the federal court to overturn a federal court ruling made by one of their own judges is very difficult at best especially considering there was no major err in law and new relevant new evidence to undermine the original decision.

A futile effort borne out of arrogance and desperation.

On reading the ruling it appears that Hird was clutching at straws. To overturn the decision would have rewritten the rules of evidence and been a smack in the face to Parliament, all Commonwealth statutory bodies, all professional sporting bodies and even UNESCO. Hirds claims meant that every players legal counsel was incompetent including his own. It would have been bigger than Mabo.

Because of this delusion and and selfish individual 34 players now have question marks over there careers and post football careers. Any of them going to sportsmens night are going to get the same questions time and time again and may even hinder the chances of future coaching positions.

Australias greatest sportman was compelled by the idea that he must "leave the game better for him being in it". Hird can make no such claim and sadly probably Dustin Fletcher as well.

Caro aside, when are the media going to put this cheat to the sword.

Hird has shown time and again that he is only concerned about 1 thing.
Not the Essendon Football Club. Not the AFL. Just 1 thing and that is James Hird. It is all about James Hird. He is willing to destroy careers and his own club to try to salvage what last vestige of integrity he has. If he had any honour at all he would have resigned and walked away from the club he professes to love a long time ago.

i have been best friends with John Middleton for nearly 25 years and in that time, i cannot recall him EVER being wrong about anything!

What a waste of everyone's time. Hird, just because your wife went to law school does not make her a competant lawyer!!! Sheesh!

Unseemly.

The textbook definition of bringing the game into disrepute I would have thought.

Does the man have no dignity whatsoever? Enough James....enough

The outcome of this appeal comes as no surprise to me! The fact that only Hird and not the Essendon Football Club as a whole decided to appeal speaks volumes of his chances of being successful in this appeal.

Hird has already come out looking like a bigger loser than he was before. He's wasted so much money in this appeal which I'm sure the club will be paying back. If I was a member of Essendon I'd be furious with this to be honest.

So now pretty much ASADA will resume its investigations as normal and hopefully we reach a fair but proper resolution to this whole fiasco. The fact that we've nearly reached two years since it came to light goes to show that a resolution needs to be reached sooner rather than later as the longer this drags on the more detrimental it is for the game and the AFL as a whole.

It's a great verdict for the game as it means no one is above the law and proper anti-doping bodies can resume their investigations legally into this matter. If Essendon are found to not have done anything illegal then they should not face any further punishment but if they are guilty of such actions then I hope they face the full consequences and repercussions with those breaches and are imposed with the appropriate punishments that will not only deter their club from committing such actions again but also alert other clubs that similar punishments await them if they undergo similar programs that Essendon have alleged to have undergone in 2011-2012.

In regards to Hird himself, Essendon has backed him for this long so I don't see why he won't be coaching this year even though I think the Essendon board has no balls whatsoever. It still staggers me how he received a new contract on the day he was handed a 12 month suspension from the AFL in August 2013 and is still coaching at AFL level.

Hird probably threatened Essendon with something rather large coming out, that's why they incomprehensibly extended his contract. He has something they cannot afford to come to light, and given how selfish he has shown himself to be.. they would be wise in their eyes to believe his threats.
