2013-2014 EPL Discussion Thread

Post by Jezza »

I've decided to make a new thread for this upcoming EPL season as the EPL fixture has just been released now. Here is the link to the 2013-2014 EPL fixture.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/22945537

Opening Games:
Arsenal v Aston Villa
Chelsea v Hull
Crystal Palace v Tottenham
Liverpool v Stoke
Man City v Newcastle
Norwich v Everton
Sunderland v Fulham
Swansea v Man Utd
West Brom v Southampton
West Ham v Cardiff

Anyway, I'd love people to post their thoughts and predictions for this upcoming EPL season.

Hard to make a prediction until all the teams have concluded their summer business, but I honestly can't see the Mancs winning it again, I think they'll struggle under Moyes this season.

If we do the business I think we will I could see it finishing like this:

1. Chelsea
2. Arsenal/Man United
3 Man United/Arsenal
4. Man City
5. Liverpool

Interesting predictions from you two guys. My top 4 predictions are:

1). Chelsea (Mourinho will bring them back to the top and imagine if they sign Cavani)
2). Man City (Pellegrini will improve them massively. If they sign Isco, then they could easily go on top of Chelsea)
3). Man Utd (Moyes may struggle to adapt to the standard that's expected of Man U, but in the long run I think he'll do well)
4). Arsenal (They appear to be involved in the transfer market and if they sign Higuain and Fellaini, they'll improve massively.

Details of this upcoming season:
Promoted teams: Cardiff City, Hull City and Crystal Palace
Relegated teams: Reading, QPR, Wigan

The transfer window officially opens where players can move clubs and most new managers will be starting their new jobs today.

By the way today is the 10th anniversary since Roman Abramovich bought Chelsea all the way back in 2003.

Thanks for telling me. If the 10th anniversary Roman Abramovich bought Chelsea all the way back in 2003 is, then I'll be very surprised.

I'd hope Newcastle can play well in their first game, and not get smashed like they did last time out against City.

Newcastle new a strong start to build confidence into their season like they did two years ago. Last year was a disastrous campaign for you.

Man City away from home is one of the hardest games you can start off with. If you lose, you at least want to show some promise.

The Championship is underway!
Bolton start with a hum drum away draw to Burnley.
Wigan got the best first day result and looked the goods pumping Barnsley 5-0 at Barnsley.

One point, after triple relegation Portsmouth's first game in the fourth tier ends in a 4-1 home defeat. How low can they go....out of the entire Football League from the Premirship to nowhere in four years? The signs are early but ominous.

Thanks for the updates Sixpoints :)

I'm hoping for your sake that the Trotters have a strong campaign in the Championship and obtain promotion for the 2014-2015 season. I'm expecting Wigan to dominate considering the amount of talent and quality they've signed for the Championship this season. They should be back in the top league next season.

Pompey's decline has been sad to watch considering I have a lot of respect and admiration for the club. They do have some of the most passionate fans in the league. It's amazing to think that in 2010 they were relegated from the EPL and they were in an FA Cup Final against Chelsea and now they're one league above the conference now.

Only two weeks left until the EPL season officially begins.

Can't see either side making the top 4, let alone winning the Title this season.

It's out of Chelsea, Man City, Man U and maybe Tottenham as an outside chance.

The whole comp is boring. Only a handful of sides can win and if there are challengers they buy the best player. Should have had a salary cap years ago. At least the FA cup has a flukers hope of something.
Annoying opposition supporters since 1967.
