I am more then happy to not do a trade at all then a lousy draft pick.

If Brisbane act like @&$!S and offer us nothing, I'm sure then if it becomes Collingwood or bust, and we don't blink we send him to GWS. If they act like @&$!S and only offer pick 4 then so be it, they weren't the ones who went behind our backs and approached a contracted player.

If the worst of the worst comes to the worst we retain Beams. We tell him to take a leave, all paid for, to be with his sick dad up until January, then we see what the options are from there. I'm guessing it will be a Mitch Clark situation, in which case we render his contract, leaving more room in the salary cap he sits out a year costing him massive dollars.

In any case, if Bris screw us over he will end up in GWS, he just won't be safe playing in Seaford or playing anywhere else in Melbourne after his disgraceful behaviour.

One thing Beams has proved is that he is a <snip>, and this would you think bring down his trade currency, a lot of clubs will probably not want such a person playing for their club, he's as toxic as Akermanis, it's just he's a different more introverted person.

He has screwed over all his mates that he had at Collingwood.

I agree only met Beams once and it wasn't a happy experience
I'll I'll cut him some slack anyway as he is the footballer first and foremost
Probably a good bloke to sit down and have a beer with..who knows but all pies supporters are now starting to get that feeling of been screwed with.
I've seen the good times and the bad and now is the perfect time for Collingwood to make a stand

I would have to say the initially the club was making all the right noises in saying that they would trade Beams to Brisbane providing we received reasonable compensation in the trade. Initially I was fully convinced that most of the motivation in him wanting to move was based around his fathers health. When considering his non attendance at the Copeland Night, the fact that he was at a pub with mates and not in Queensland with his father and talk of wanting to play with his brother my opinions have changed.

I suspect that the dollars on offer by Brisbane are a motivating major factor. Some time ago a rumour emerged that Brisbane were after Beams. It would seem now that this was well founded.

This must firstly call into question his character in wanting to leave any club whilst under contract. The fact that he did not attend the Copeland was also very poor form. I would also like to know how Beams or his management were approached by Brisbane as I was of the understanding it was outside of the AFL rules for a contacted player to be approached in this manner?

I thought there were rules against approaching contracted players as well. someone on Nicks will know the rules.

I thought there were rules against approaching contracted players as well. someone on Nicks will know the rules.

Are the AFL poaching laws still in place?
