Just bought 3 DVD's In Hong Kong for about $2.50 each:

The Caine Mutiny

Humphrey Bogart, 1954, Directed by Edward Dimtry

The Red Shoes

1948: Written Directed & produced I think by Powell & Presinger, with a young Robert Helpmann

Slingblade

1996. Directed by Billy Bob Thornton & he played his best role IMO.

Still a good movie.
I agree, it was a good disaster movie of the 70s consisting of an all-star cast. I now feel tempted to watch it now.

Still how long? Compare that to a bad movie.

Ah, The Red Shoes is great. Bit of a melodrama, but that ballet sequence in the middle is amazing.

I'd always missed Stanley Kubrick's "Paths to Glory" 1957 but saw it on the flight home 2 nights ago. This film is brilliant IMO. I didn't realize that "Breaker Morant" 1980 pinched some bits if not a fair bit from it:

Got to watch Rashomon (Kurosawa 1950) again: what a wonderful film (good in flight selections 5-6 days ago):

I cried in both films, powerful films.

A bit of a melodrama?

Haven't seen it in years & noticed a few months ago they were screening a version at "The Astor". A wonderful film & I quite like the Powell / Preminger double.
