Also, he only finished third. Hard to claim him as a top 10 mid in the league when he's our third best. Not up there with the likes of Judd when he was traded or a Dangerfield now, he's on the next tier.

^ Not sure I agree with that. We all know that club B & Fs are assessed differently to other awards. The closest is probably coaches association awards.

There are a lot of people on here who seem to like to use Collingwood as a whip with which to flagellate themselves. "We aren't Geelong *crack*, we aren't Hawthorn *crack*, Bucks hasn't one a flag yet and we've given him THREE whole years *crack*, we always lose the free kick count but that's because we are second to the ball and tackle like buffoons *crack*, Franklin left Hawks but they are still the benchmark for all awesomeness, especially loyalty *crack*, Beams is leaving us and this proves we have a broken culture and EVERYONE wants to leave *crack*, Frawley is going to Geelong and this proves what a strong culture they have *crack*, Frawley is a fountain of youth who will facilitate reverse ageing in half the Geelong list, the signing of Frawley doesn't clearly demonstrate that Chris Scott is delusional about the state of the list at his disposal *crack*, they'll probably win another flag *crack*, whereas we can't possibly make the eight *crack*, injuries are no excuse *crack*, we are a shit club *crack*, why are we so shit? *crack*

What a great post. Brilliant. This is absolutely hilarious!!!! Perhaps someone could start a new thread called "flagellation" and this could kick it off.

On that note, good on Pert to stick it to the Brions and tell them they better pay up by a weeks time or get stuffed. Apparently the names thrown up by Perty were Rockliff, Aish, Mayes, Hanley and Zorko. About time we got ruthless in the trade department again

Apparently the pies have given Brisbane till 5pm next Friday to come up with a deal that's suitable to us.

No deal by then then no Beams to Brisbane.
I'm glad we're taking a hard line on this. If Brisbane want him they need to pay. The other side of the equation is will we be in a better bargaining position at the end of next year if Beams stays with us?

Perfect. Exactly the way we should approach it. If Brisbane looks like falling through, Dayne might have to turn his attention to the Suns.

And he'll play dead or develop a mysterious injury in 2015, not to mention the effects on morale on having him around if he is disgruntled. He will then walk out the door at the end of his contract, go into the draft and we get nada for him (didnt we all laugh in St Kilda's faces when they did a similar thing regarding Ball?).

A great result that will be lol. Another Collingwood triumph for the spin merchants to desperately try to wall paper over. And of course the self same spin merchants will then go off tap blaming Beams for a situation of Collingwood's hamfisted creation.

By all means get the best deal going for him but playing hard ball in the unrealistic hope of forcing a better deal for the sake of it is just plain stupid.

Yes and No. Nobody $@&^# with Port again after we tried to lowball them on Nick Stevens and they forced him to the scum. I see this trade as more a Judd type deal though. We'll get a little less than we think we should, then end up winning the deal once Pick 5 comes good.

No, it's exactly the right strategy. Beams has made it clear that we hold all the cards. He will not play for Collingwood next year. Period.

The deadline is not: no Brisbane = Collingwood. It's a declaration to all other teams that Brisbane are struggling to get a deal done, make an offer. That especially goes for the Suns. One of two things then happen: Brisbane ups their offer and we accept, or Beams reluctantly chooses another club. He won't play for us next year, a deal will be done and I'm now confident we'll get a good one.

Absolutely what I think, Inkling. We have nothing to lose now. Beams has made it clear that he does not/will not play for us next year. His behaviour tonight has expressed contempt for our great club, and it is impossible to see how he could ever return from the position he is now in. So we now go for the absolute maximum. If Brisbane does not offer anything satisfactory, Beams will go elsewhere, and we will extract the full price.

See fellas, you wouldn't be so surprised and angry about this turn of events if only you listened to what I had to say :)

ps. loving the latest tough stance from the Club, rather he's forced to sit out a year and we get nothing for him than be known as someone who can be bend over by sentimental blackmail, real or not.

My Lord, isn't that Lynch in that photo as well?

Both Beams and Lynch skipped the B+F? That's unbelievable, and incredibly bad form.

Obviously a rift at the club to some degree, that's a public confirmation right there.

Beams can never play for us again
