Watched "The Harder they fall" last week, another film on ABC 2 on Saturday night.

Powerful drama, Humphrey Bogarts last feature film: 1956 (A very good year) starring Bogart, Rod Steiger as well as Max Baer. Powerful drama about the boxing industry, spruikers, managers, the exploitation of boxers, moral choices etc.

Max Baer played a heavyweight champion. He was the Heavyweight Champion for a period in the late 1930's having defeated Nazi Germany's Schmelling (? spelling). Baer was Jewish which made the fight more poignant & political. Baer was also a protagonist in the Cinderella man as the boxer who was champion but took an impending fight too lightly & got knocked off his perch - at the time unthought of (much the way Collingwood in '58 was not expected to beat the overwhelming favourites - Melbourne)

Baer was also famous for being the father of Jethro in the "Beverly Hill Billies".

A compelling film in many ways.

My BF watched it last night in 3d, said it was shit! Someone told her they had to watch it twice, because they could not work out what made it so bad!

Think I'll wait til it's on sale!

Watched the first half of MIB III last night. Going to bed shortly to watch the rest. Not bad.

One I'm going to have a look at soon is Shotgun preacher. Looks interesting.

But can't wait for Expendables II.

Hey Kingswood, I pressed play on the bottom right corner of the screen and it didn't work, so disappointed I wanted to see how it ended.
Cheers big ears
