You could be wrong but your post makes a lot of sense mate. Only those senior people at the club like Eddie, Perty, Bucks and Burnsy would know the absolute truth. The rest is all speculation and opinion.

Said clearly it will take more than pick 4 to get the deal done.

Was not wound up, just matter of fact.

Made a comment that it was great for brisb to speak to trade radio as they hadn't as yet spoke to the pies until late last night briefly.

Matter of fact about our age profile and what we need in the trade. Need a player ready to play.
Not wound up because it's in Brisbane's court.

Pick 4 AND a ready player.

If not, happy to have Beams at Collingwood next year.

I had to laugh listening to SEN this morning. They played the AFL radio interview with Hine saying Pick 4 & more, then they interviewed a manager at Brisbane who said pick 4 & nothing more. They then interviewed Jay Clark of the Hun as though he really knew what was going down. He said that Beams is worth more than a first round draft pick.

A lot of words to tell us nought.

Wouldn't swap Hanley for Beams is his opinion.

Wow what a tool.
Hanley has some razzmatazz moments, to an unskilled eye like floggo(or maybe a p!$$ed one) this is enough to warrant the superstar status.

Working on the floggo formula Elliot has already gone past Beams(couple more tats and he'd be worth 2 of him)

The AFl has to sign off on every contract and hopefully at some point they'd dig their heels in and say that's clearly draft tampering and/or not in the spirit of the code.

Agreed. The Luke Ball scenario is not a legitimate threat the Lions can make. It's just too risky for them which is why all clubs end up offering close to fair value even for uncontracted players. When a player is contracted, the offer always has to be fair or even overs to pry the player away. We just need to stand firm and we'll get the right compensation.

Like I said, if that's a plausible scenario, we can do the same to lure Jeremy Cameron in the PSD next year on a $2m one year contract. There's nothing Brisbane can threaten us with that we can't also use to our advantage. We just need to stand firm and refuse to accept unders.

If they are willing to trade picks 2 and 3 for a 24 yr old All Australian onballer that clearly sets a platform for Beams ? Pick 4 only is not even laughable. Sit tight. If they don't move they are insulting him and ego still plays some part in this. How long before Dayne realises the club he wants to go to thinks he is not that great ?
Dees offer P2 & P3 but they aren't even assured of getting a pick 3 as compo for Frawley.

Contracts will not be worth the paper they are written on, if we cave in to this shit, hold firm Pies, bleed the pricks dry, we hold the cards now, no matter what this hotshot manager thinks. !

Just now saw in the Age, that GWS young Gun, Jono O Rourke, wants desperately to come home, to melb, if Beams wants so badly to leave the Pies, lets deal with GWS now and tell Lions to get rooted ? Our hands must not be tied on this, if he wants out, then he can take this, hed only be 1 hr from his dad by plane then too. !

Beams can simply sit there and say he's not willing to sign a contract with GWS which would lead to them not accepting it.

I agree that we need to hold out for the best possible deal from Brisbane but don't kid yourself, he's going to end up there.

Can Claye and his dad come to Collingwood? They'd be welcome for mine.

Ha ha, ive heard a lot worse ideas, how many "dead cert trades " to go somewhere, for sure, lock it in,, have fallen tru at the last minute, -ala Tippett to the Brions-only for the player to end up at some other club ?? NO JW, you conceded easily, we must play hardball on this.
