Ed Allan? Wow! One game sample size.
VFL games are also a sample size. He can’t get a kick there either - guarantee you he won’t make it.

We’ve got a track record of botching first round picks over the past 5 years or so.

He turns 27 on Kings Birthday. If not now for Ash, then when?

Ash has to perform the rest of this season and I will back him to do so. Has talent to burn but needs to harness it and turn it on consistently at AFL level.
I term the current Collingwood attack based strategy “Unceasing Waves” like on a stormy and windy day with rough seas. A Perfect Storm ☔️

By your standard, you’d have delisted Jaicos after 2 seasons.

Doesn’t seem to have the killer instinct required to play at the highest level.

I would give Ash a go as a defender/swing player who goes forward from time to time. Get him behind the ball and it may sharpen him up.

The pay-off if he succeeds... further in Jamie Elliott's absence.
We've seen Ash's top-end and it is very good, exciting. Just need to see it consistently.

The Footy Gawds (if I spell it wrong it is not blaspheming) owe us.

He was flying against big pack or bigger players quite often on Friday. The 3rd tall - is the role.

That little toe tap that led to Markov's goal was very good. Smart like the punch for a behind in that Adelaide game last year.

C'mon Ash.

Well, "we" don't.

Hine on the other hand, should be left at the office by the time draft night rolls around...

He gets between 16-25 possessions in the Reserves and maybe like Joe Richards (and Shane Warne who averaged 40 for Victoria at Shield ranks) plays better at Senior level with better teammates around them.

Will surely be delisted at the end of this season.

I expect that to continue in October where Johnson is simply sold off to a club desperate and stupid for a 4th round chump pick despite having 1 year left on his contract or paid out (not to play) Zac Langdon/Jared Polec style.
No club will trade for him. Not even Adelaide, who dodged a bullet when Melb. turned down their offer of two first-rounders for Petty.

What are we thinking about Ash Johnson though? He is signed on for next year. Are we looking to trade, or are we looking to see what he can do next year? I have my worries and if he was unsigned for next year, he'd be in this conversation too.

I wonder if the Dees, Suns, or Port would look at him at all?

^If he clicked down back he'd make a great replacement for Howe.
But that's a big "if".

I wonder if Brisbane would consider a trade for Ash Johnston now that Daniher has retired? I have seen enough of Ash Johnston to have made my mind up that he doesn't have the right mental attitude to be a consistent success at AFL level. Its a pity because when he first debuted in 2022 I thought he was going to be the reincarnation of Fabulous Phil Carman. Johnston has terrific natural abilities but just doesn't seem to have the mental approach required to make it in the AFL. Maybe a club will have seen that natural ability and think they could harness that within their club and trade for him?
