Night Shift (1982)
Bit of a surprise this one. Have vague memories of seeing this years and years ago, but couldn't remember much about it. I used to think Shelly Long was the ultimate babe when I was about 9.
Looking into it, Henry Winkler was still playing the Fonz at this point in his career (Aged 37). And I thought he was really good in a completely different role.
Michael Keaton played an annoying immature character, but was likeable. He was Batman and Beetlejuice just 6 years later.
Spotted Kevin Costner as an extra in the party scene.
I really liked it. It's aged a bit, but is a lost gem of the 80's.
Memphis Belle (1990)
I've always liked this film. I remember watching it with Dad when it first came out and he loved it.
One thing I noticed was there is a few actors that were in Back To The Future in it, including Eric Stoltz, the original Marty McFly.
I'm half expecting this to be remade into a modern film. With all new CGI and a different backstory.
It is a little bit slow and leaves you with the what happened next feeling, but overall it's a good film.
My Mrs didnt like it, but she isn't a fan of war films in general.

Ok, this is a B-Grade American film that is based on a book that my brother really liked. The book was published in 1993 and is a recommended children's novel according to him. Do young adults and pre-teens still read books?
The film is very short, but not what I'd call a must-see. The acting is not great and there are plot holes throughout the film. In a pre-internet world where kids were still kids, this could have been a popular film made by a bigger production company.
It's sort of an adventure film, with two young boys travelling throughout the U.S. on their own, however, they are out to find their missing 4 year old sister who was presumed drowned.
The Amy Fisher Story (1993)
Bloody heck. I can't remember this happening, but this is based on a teenage girl who had an affair and became infatuated with an older man. She goes on to shoot his wife in the face. It was a big national scandal in the U.S. in the early 90's.
Drew Barrymore (17 at the time) plays the main role and is the very sexually active and unstable Amy Fisher.
I found the film to be a bit of a mess, but thats what these people are; a huge mess. Because it was made in 1993, you'll have to look up what ended up happening as it was so close to the actual events. For anyone that want's to know, she became a Porn actress in 2007.

This was great. Kind of gave me a Wolf Creek vibe at one point. Does leave you with a "then what happened" feeling at the end.
I've got my own ideas of what should have happened when he got into the bad guys house... anyway.
The son in the film would be in his early 30's by now, time for a sequel.

I really enjoyed this film. I may have seen it when I was still a kid, because I recalled the opening scene, but nothing after that. What an idiot tho, trying to take drugs out of the country by strapping them to his body.
Based on a true story and defs worth watching if you haven't seen it. Bangkok Hilton vibe to it with the dodgy jail.

Chances Are (1989)
This is one of the stupidest movies I have ever seen. The film holds a rating of 67% on Rotten Tomatoes, I dont know how? I just thought it was weird and creepy. And just stupid.
A young attorney dies and is instantly reincarnated. 20-something years later, his widow meets him again and he starts to remember his past life. But he is dating his daughter...
And starts to convince his former wife that it is him in a new body and has a crack at her. She of course freaks out but then starts to believe him.
Just didnt like it.

Well it came on after the footy last night, except we missed the start. But from what we saw, we got sucked in. So I chucked the DVD on and started from the start. We hadn't seen it before.
Had no idea Holly Valance was in the film.
We both liked the film. Short and sweet.
If you were wondering, we just beat the one airing on channel 7. It was a photo finish, but they had a big head start.
Well it came on after the footy last night, except we missed the start. But from what we saw, we got sucked in. So I chucked the DVD on and started from the start. We hadn't seen it before.

Taken 2 (2012) and Taken 3 (2014)
Decided to watch the two sequels after enjoying the first one.
Still liked the second one and "didnt mind" the third one. But I can see why the third one got such a low rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Part two, like the first one was short and sweet. Part three was confusing and the ending was a bit jumbled. I also think the editing and action sequences of the third one weren't that great.
22% approval rating for part 2 (I think it should be closer to 45%) and 12% for part three (I think should be closer to 25%). Put it this way, Point Break (2015) has a rating of 11% and I think thats one of the worst films I have ever seen. Taken 3, whilst not in my top ten, is no where near the worst film Ive ever seen.

Nomadland starring Frances McDormand.
Story of a woman her sixties who loses her husband, job & home and takes to the road in a van. Initially travelling to find work, she like many others in the film decide that life on the road is what she wants.
Has the feel of a documentary. Visually great, some of the scenery is amazing. And the soundtrack is a perfect fit.
It may not be to everyone's taste but I really enjoyed it.
Also watched Palm Springs starring Andy Sandberg (Brooklyn Nine Nine) and Cristin Millioti (Fargo & How I Met Your Mother).
A modern take on Groundhog Day with a couple of twists but no Punxsutawney Phil.
Easy and enjoyable to watch.
