Would love to see him get #17 for nostalgic purposes, but #9 would suit him.

Our midfield was set to improve with Grundy, Treloar, Adams, Phillips, JDG, Sier etc getting a year older and wiser, and Pendles and Sidey still at their peaks.

Now we've just injected one of the top 10 midfielders in the AFL into the mix.

People seem to think that pick 18 was somehow going to land us a JDG or a Stephenson. It wasn't. Even if we somehow snagged another JDG, which we certainly wouldn't have at that pick, it would be 3 or 4 years until he was performing at AFL level... which is too late for Pendles etc.

Ditto for next year's pick.

We want to win NOW. Let's got for it!

Welcome back Beamsy!

He didn't come for good reason - it would have been like jumping into a pool of sharks. It would have been non stop pestering and harassment.

To even suggest such vile criticisms backs the point up to the hilt. Move on, he's one of us again.

Which "vile criticisms"? He received bad advice (from within the club) not to go to the Copeland. But he should probably have known to stay off all social media. If he didn't know, his manager should have ordered him to lie low.

Golly, that really is getting overly sentimental.

The lad stayed away for good reasons, as did Daisy. Both would have been eaten alive if they had attended, so it was certainly not bad advise. As for social media, I can't comment there, no idea of his parting comments.

Leave the past in the past, that's the last thing we need now and frankly - its ugly. We got a gun, a club favorite who will reinvest into the club - and our window is open, its full steam ahead.

Now, if I change my attitude to the state of the club, anyone can.

No, they wouldn't have. e.g. H wasn't eaten alive. But in any case, Beams just followed advice from others. (I wonder about the wisdom of some of the people within the club.)

Don't feel sorry for Blair, he got an armchair ride to premiership glory in 2010 at the expense of Fraser, Lockyer, O'Bree and Medhurst.

He along with Goldy, might very well be the best clubman by the length of Flemington, but that will never disguise his lack of talent at this level.

Anyhoo, he is yet to be delisted, but will no doubt return to the VFL list.
