Think about this: Ukraine has 15 nuclear reactors; one or more may be under the control of the Russian military, the rest under the control of the current Ukrainian government. What if some faction within the Ukraine decides that if the rest of the world wont help us we will exercise our own kind of nuclear option. Kind of a scary thought.....David wrote:Some alarm over the fact that the giant Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant is apparently on fire after being attacked by Russian forces, with some warning that it could cause a Chernobyl-like disaster if it explodes. This Twitter thread from a nuclear energy consultant suggests that the worst fears may be overstated, but it's still worrying:

Edit: reading reports now that it's under control.

Why would they risk destroying their own country in that way, leaving parts of the country uninhabitable for generations? That doesn’t make any sense. Unless it was some kind of false flag to get the Russians out, and even then it would be a steep price to pay. I don’t buy it for a moment.

I dunno, sounds like a situation some RT presenter would dream up, to be honest. I’m not entirely sure why Russian forces are making such a big deal about capturing reactors, but I can’t imagine anyone on either side wants a nuclear accident.

Sitting by while the attacks continue is horrible, especially knowing people going through it. MFing SOB.
In the end the rain comes down, washes clean the streets of a blue sky town.

It's time for the West to reset what is important and what's not important. Western leaders have turned a blind eye to funding and building Russia and China while they focus on the big issue like cancelling books and movies because someone might be offended and creating a world where we need to have gender neutral underwear.

Cancelling books, movies and music is nothing new. Far right Christians have been at it for decades in the US.

Yep. The West has been distracted and taken its eye off the ball for too long. What'sinaname wrote:It's time for the West to reset what is important and what's not important. At the end of the day, the world revolves around land, money, finance, weapons, technology, resources etc. That's what concerns countries like Russia and China more than anything else.
