Headline in the Age today: front and centre at the very top of the digital edition:

A terrible accident changed Sam Bloom’s life forever. Then came a magpie ...

There is a photograph of a woman with ... wait for it ... a Pied Currawong on her shoulder.

One of the day's more ignorant headlines, though doubtless there are worse howlers elsewhere.

Once upon a time they might have employed a subeditor to, if not correct it, then at least think to ask the question. Nowadays, we should be grateful if they haven't made any abysmal spelling errors on the front page, accidentally republished a New Idea exclusive or forgotten to turn up to work today.

Got a menu planner for the diet program I'm going to try to stick with for 28 days.

I can eat meat and some veges,

No:
Sugar, bread, pasta, alcohol

Got a list of veges I can eat. Notable omissions from that list are potato, pumpkin, sweet potato, peas, carrot, corn, beetroot

This should be interesting.

Wrote mum’s eulogy Sat sent it off to the celebrant Sat evening. She responds that she will get a draft program etc to me Sunday. Nothing Sunday nothing Monday - so ring her at 4pm today - sorry just doing it you’ll have it soon. 9pm nothing - email again - 10pm still nothing! Mum’s funeral Is tomorrow - so I’ve sacked her - we will muddle through and my wonderful hubby will read the eulogy!

WTF - I reckon she must have been a midwife in her previous life

McDonalds food is so full of artificial carp that it doesn't rot.

Glad they found a use for carp, just need them to use real carp instead of artificial carp and then I will be happy!

high levels of salt, low level of moisture means the quarterpounder doesn't rot it just mummifies. There's no salad.

Homemade burgers or Maccas burger. Wont rot in the right environment. In the right environment, both will rot.

I have an orange at work (air conditioned) that has effectively dried out and did not rot.

Neil worked for a rehab company in Adelaide that made webbing ptoducts for the Army. I used to speak to him often in the 90s and he was always a cheerful fellow and very honest. Used to tell us how he won yesterdays wheelchair race at the canteen.
