^ There were several marks to the WCE big forwards that a larger defender could/should have stopped.

Eg: Vardys goal in the Last Q (WCE 1st goal in teh Last Q).

I also don't think our smaller back line created much run from the back line in the last 3 Qs. So we didn't gain an advantage there either that would be lost with one or two KPB.

I agree our undersized back line did OK, if not well. And Our midfield probably lost the battle on the day....just. But stop a couple of goals (particularly the Vardy one), and you probably think slightly differently there.

Big bodied, sluggish defenders.

McGovern says hi.

^^ He's a freak and a brilliantly confident reader of ball flight so not in the same camp as May. If he was on the table then a totally different decision.

^ How can Newscorp write an article that simply quotes a rival newspaper's columnist? This practice is not new, but it's still amazing.

I see Caro's into character assassination again.I'm sure she would be singing a different tune if Beams wanted to join her beloved tigers.

I'm surprised Caro didn't mention the old rape allegations while she was in the gutter writing this article.

Not at all. We lost because our midfield wasn't good enough and our forwards didn't put enough scoreboard pressure on. Beams is the right answer to both issues.

Brisbane have just done the Neale deal without us. This could all end up a nothingburger.

We could play no defenders and then could still argue that that the midfield failed to dominate enough to win the game. But that would be silly.

The defense needs to hold up against the tide. Cos at some stage in a game the mids won't be dominating and the opposition just might have the ball in their hands. We have to make it more difficult for them to score.

Playing Langdon on Vardy is not the answer and is highly likely to get exposed at some stage in a game. (As an example).

RE: GF
1). Could the Midfield been better? yes
2). Could have we kicked more goals? yes (But I think this was more dependent on 1). We kicked straight. Probably muffed the chances further up field. But think it's hyper critical.
3). Could we have defended better with a bigger defender? yes. And I think this is a bigger YES than 1 & 2).

All these things could have made the difference. ( ne Ump decision could have made the difference!). But across the whole season coming, the lack of key defender is our weakness IMO. And a simpler one to fix with one player via a trade.
