In an ideal world, it would've been great to have him back but at 28 (29 next season), his injuries and being surplus to our needs, it really wouldn't make sense unless he was a free agent.

More fool all of us for believing Tom Browne's report. I mean zero veracity if it went from he's gone and Collingwood are making it a priority to get him to Dayne himself saying there was never any chance of him leaving.

I'd say it is. Unless Dayne is happy to be pilloried as a liar for flip flopping on what is a pretty definitive statement. Brisbane's season is over. There's no reason for him to keep up the charade of pretending he's going to stay. If he says he's staying then let's take him at his word. Theoretically, I can't see how to get him anyway. You wouldn't want to start gutting a team that's just made top 4 to bring in a player like Beams.

I reckon he'll stay in Brissy for one more year and then return to Collingwood for his final 3 years.

^ still 2 more seasons left on his Bears contract so we'll be having the same discussion next year in that case
