Give Brisbane the 2nd round and another 2nd or 3rd round next year. That should be adequate for a 29 year old.

Oh yeah, assuming we can afford him?
We don't have a 2nd round pick, as we've already traded it away.

He wants to come back on the condition of making qldmagpie67 an assistant coach. So Eddie laughs and walks away.

could you imagine the drama between Qld and P4S if he did come back.

Who gets the credit when a short dinky pass from sidey (under 20 meters but with 100% efficiency) sets up beams for the easy goal!

If he did come back, Qld and P4S must marry each other

Move on. Nothing more to see here. He's staying at Brisbane which I'm happy with.

In an ideal world, it would've been great to have him back but at 28 (29 next season), his injuries and being surplus to our needs, it really wouldn't make sense unless he was a free agent.

More fool all of us for believing Tom Browne's report. I mean zero veracity if it went from he's gone and Collingwood are making it a priority to get him to Dayne himself saying there was never any chance of him leaving.

I'd say it is. Unless Dayne is happy to be pilloried as a liar for flip flopping on what is a pretty definitive statement. Brisbane's season is over. There's no reason for him to keep up the charade of pretending he's going to stay. If he says he's staying then let's take him at his word. Theoretically, I can't see how to get him anyway. You wouldn't want to start gutting a team that's just made top 4 to bring in a player like Beams.

I reckon he'll stay in Brissy for one more year and then return to Collingwood for his final 3 years.
