As someone mentioned this section of the trading game was simply about saving face for both parties, they probably will now start dealing for real, although Brizvegas are such incredible amateurs they'll probably stuff it up. I mean look at this shite from Schwab:

"We can't do anything more, we can't add to it," Schwab told NAB AFL Trade Radio on Friday.
"We won't change it. We think it's as good as we can possibly do.
"we've worked so hard since the start to make that happen."

We 'can't' add to it? My god they must think Collingwood, and the industry, are morons!
Picks 5, 21, and 25 was a far better offer, we could've picked up kids like Angus Brayshaw, & Connor Blakely, and hopefully got away with pick 25 for Greenwood, but as far as I know they've already spent 21 on getting Christensen.
5 and 25 is a big win for Brizzo, while 5 and say, Aish, is a decent win for us. Both sides know this and neither wants to be a loser, although Brisbane is already quite good at it. What really pisses me off is the fact that they have more flags than us from the last 50 years while we have to pay to keep them afloat, it's just insane, and I really wish Collingwood would stand up to the AFL bully-boys more often instead of merely bending over and 'presenting'.
I guess the next question is which, if any, of the half dozen or so Brisbane players we asked for is Victorian? As far as I know, none of them are. Maybe we should throw a few more names at them? The way Schwab talks you'd think that sending a kid to Collingwood is a nightmare they wouldn't put any of their guys through, either way the move would be more appealing to a Victorian kid, have they got any that are decent players?

I meant the whole post and yes for a Qld person western suburbs would be an eye opener

Brisbane failed to get a deal done. If Beams still wants out, he needs to consider other teams. Gold Coast (close to family) and GWS (closer to family and his good mate Heath Shaw) make the most sense, but really he could go anywhere now, he needs to decide.

I don't think so. Not for us. How do we "save face" by saying we're calling off negotiations and then continue to negotiate? That makes no sense. We tried to get a deal done and almost had one until Geelong rejected it. Our best chance to get a good deal now is to enforce the deadline and refuse further negotiation with Brisbane. It is only then that Beams will consider other teams and we can finally get some serious offers. Maybe we give Brisbane one more shot at it, but they'd need to come with a very good offer and we either accept or reject, there can be no more protracted negotiation with them.

It needs to be remembered that Collingwood has said all along its preference is to keep Beams. We did not put him on the market. We do not have to do anything as he is contracted to us for another year. If the lions or anyone else really want Beams, and if he himself really wants to leave, then the onus is on them to come up with a deal which suits us. Otherwise he stays. End of story.

We keep Beams 12 months after we kick out Heater for 'culture' reasons ?

WTF?

^^Heater agreed to leave and we were able to negotiate an acceptable deal. If the same happens for Beams he'll be gone as well. If not, he stays.

"North Melbourne have rejected Collingwood's second round pick, currently 30 for midfielder Levi Greenwood. The Roos are understood to be interested in getting involved in a three-way trade with the Lions which would see pick 5 and Greenwood to Collingwood, pick 25 to North and Dayne Beams to Brisbane."

I would take it although GWS make have a better offer on the table. Greenwood would be a good pickup for pick 25 and with a bit of luck we could ????? pick up a solid player with pick 5.

I meant the whole post and yes for a Qld person western suburbs would be an eye opener
Not sure what you're trying to do there Surfer, but this Queensland person was born and raised in Dandenong and has been to Sydney's West many times. I've also spent time in New York, Rome, Paris, and many others as well as living in London for a while. Not really gonna be dazzled by the big smoke of Paramatta!
Your a bit uninformed though about west syd.
Suburb I live is every bit as good as the best vic suburbs.
Local afl junior club has 90 under 9 kids.
We lived in vic and it's 2 and a bit hrs flight to family in Bris plus car time.
Syd is 50 min flight both ways and cheap.
Sorry to pick on the West, but the operative word in your post is 'suburbs', and while I know that Sydneys Suburbs are no different from those in the rest of the country they are still suburbs, AFL players, especially good looking, cashed-up kids like Dayne want to play in big Cities.
Besides, a flight is a flight, you hafta get a lift or leave your car, and arrange to be picked up or hire a car. For anyone who flies as often as an AFL player one hour aloft is not much different to two and he certainly isn't bothered by the cost! My point however was more about why mention GWS as a likely destination and not Sydney? It's a lot closer to the airport, and it's, well, Sydney. And if Sydney why not Essendon or Port Adelaide? If he wants to go to either Brisbane or or GCS or stay at Collingwood it's quite likely that it WAS about family, if he's happy to go to Sydney (east or west) or North Melbourne rather than stay at Collingwood then it's about the club.
I don't think so. Not for us. How do we "save face" by saying we're calling off negotiations and then continue to negotiate?
Oh come on, don't you realise that there's a very wide gulf between what clubs do in private and what they say publicly? Do you really think Collingwood isn't talking any more? They saved face by appearing to not bend to Brisbane's feeble offer. If a deal does end up being done it will be presented to us as a fait d'accompli, they aren't gonna tell about the yelling and pleading and whining that happened in-between, that's not how it works.
But there will be! Deals simply don't get done like that! Eddie is probably on the phone to Schwobby right now hammering something out. If they figure out a package they will then write the press release, if they don't there won't be any more said about it, not officially at least. It all depends on Dayne and how he feels which none of us know, though plenty are happy to sh*tbag him. For him it might be Brisbane or bust, or it might be 'anywhere but Collingwood' We simply don't know.

^^For any "face" to be saved by Collingwood, any deal we accept from Brisbane has to be quite a bit better than pick 5 + 25. They don't have any other picks before the 3rd round and do not want to give up players. Hard to see how they're going to manage that. If they do, fine. But if we give in to the deal that was already on the table, that's not saving face even if there is a small sweetener.

You're right though, we need to understand whether there is any chance Beams will go to another club.

western sydney is a huge area. some of the areas look very new and very much similar to the areas we might be familiar with in the wider melb metrop area. where does it technically start?

From one of the trade pages. "7 News are reporting that Brisbane will turn their attention to offering pick 5 for Patrick Ryder with Collingwood 'apparently' closing negotiations on the Beams deal."

This deal (pick 5 + 25) was on the table just about all week. It's already been rejected and rightly so.
