Newcastle and Blackpool end 1-1.

I am still not convinced that Blackpool scored, but, they were denied a penalty so I guess maybe there was the square up. Newcastle appear to be safe now in the premier league. Finishing in the top 10 would be good for Newcastle in their first year back.

Liverpool next weekend will be a massive challenge, added to that Andy Carroll will be lining up for Liverpool.

Brilliant showing from the away fans.... pity the players couldn't match their intensity.....
To be fair their were a few that did put in - Jonas tried all day, Tiote tried to be aggresive, Enrique as usual good defensively (mostly) but lairised with possession.

Williamson was at fault for all 3 goals, sometimes looks ok, but other times such as last night at Anfield looks not good enough for the level.....

Newcastle win 2-1 against Birmingham City, and are now officially safe in the Premier League. :D Leon Best is a chance to return for the game against Chelsea.

0-0 is an excellent start to the season when considering the opposition, and the complete dismantling of our tight-knit squad over the last 2 transfer windows.

A relegation dogfight looms........

Newcastle are close to securing another striker, and left back.

Rumours suggest that Erik Pieters from PSV will be the new left back for Newcastle, they are also looking at others.

Sochaux forward Modibo Maiga seems unsettled at his club and wants to make the move to Newcastle. He has refused to train amidst a bid from Newcastle, he's angry that the club refused to enter into negotiations with Newcastle.

Other options are Hugo Rodallega or Nicklas Bendtner.

^Like I said, a relegation dogfight looms.
These guys mentioned can't hold a candle to - Carroll, Nolan, Enrique (& Barton when he walks in January).

The squad had quality & togetherness under Chris Hughton, which has been completely ripped apart by Mike Ashley & his yes men including the manager Alan Pardew.

Gonna be a long season.......

Newcastle are chasing Erik Pieters from PSV Eindhoven, who appears to be a better replacement than loan option Wayne Bridge. Pieters also wants 15k less than Enrique was on, and 20k pounds less than Enrique was offered.

Newcastle 1 Sunderland 0

Ryan Taylors freekick in the second was the winner, even though Seb Larsson handballed in the first and there was no penalty. Newcastle started to take the game over in the second, and lead to Taylors freekick.

It was helped by some poor keeping, but a goals a goal.

Damnit!!!!!!! - slept through the derby after sitting through that mind-numbing draw last week.

Saw replay of the goal, surely that was actually an attempted cross form the free kick!!!!!

I had thought the same, watching Stevie Taylor leap into the air to try and land a boot on it was priceless.

Newcastle are close to securing deals for a leftback and a striker. Hopefully done by the end of the week and they will be able to line up against Fulham.

Newcastle beat %$^%$ 2-1 in the Carling Cup.
Then went onto beat Fulham 2-1 with Krul starring in goals minus his brainfart late.

Leon Best with the 2 goals against Fulham, the second one was set up by Demba Ba.

The Magpies have signed Davide Santon from Intermilan, the 20 year old signs for 5 years. He's a self confessed attacking left back, but he's a utility player.

Also signed Rob Elliott a keeper from Charlton.

Lucky tap-in for the first against Fulham, but great touch & finish for the second (even if the defending was horrendous).
Great start to the season - let's keep stock-piling those points early on, coz things are gonna seriously get tough........
