Should Post Counts Be brought Back To The Forum? Vote Here.

Post by Magpie_Dan »

Just wondering what everyones thoughts are on post counts like they have on other forums and bigfooty also. I remember we used to have them on here years ago when I first joined and I PMed a mod the other day, cant think of who it was and they said they were taken from here because people were just posting stupid things to get their post counts up.

So should we have them back?

I think we should because I would like to see how many times I have posted here over the years. Your thoughts?

pp that sounded so strange that I decided to do a search, and I came up with 5117 posts for you, which sounds more like it. The difference between usergroups and search is (I think) that if you have a post deleted then it's not included in search, whereas it is included in usergroups. That's my guess anyway.

As for me I think I had my 4000th post last week. A bit of a worry to say the least :P

MS1986 I had no idea that existed :o and yes only about half of my posts are there (I now understand what PP was trying to say). Yet they do include posts from all forums, and going back to when I joined... Steve do you know what that's all about?

In a nutshell, no. They are stupid and encourage people to post more crap than what they already do. I think the only thing that we all need to see if when someone joined. That's it really.

Don't really think post counts really matter, having no post counts makes it better because there aren't anyone around to have a go at someone's post count when making an opinion, on some other sites longer term posters have had a go at people with small post counts making comments about their posts..

This way if you have a disagreement you can handle it without bringing post counts into things.
