A quick question for the mods

Post by labrooy »

I had a couple of posts deleted from the Paul Licuria thread.

Neither of the posts was offensive, defamatory or contained any form of abuse. Yet they were deleted with no reason given.

Can the mod that deleted the posts please PM or e-mail me and explain.

Feel free to delete this thread once action has been taken.

Thanks.

best way to contact is via reporting a post in that thread, or by emailing thesinisterbastards @ magpies. net, or post in feedback, pretty sure anything postedthere gets mailed through as well.

Yeah, still no response though. I guess its the George Orwell system of moderation.. All posters are equal, only some are more equal than others.

You can ask these question via PM mate, instead of wasting space with a topic on them.

Mods don't actually have to provide a reason for deleting posts, it is up to the mod if they feel it is necessary (according to the rules).

That said, I know it is annoying to have your post deleted, mine get deleted too. I suppose I don't see any point in complaining, because it just ends up in a slanging match.

The best thing to kill any board is bad moderating. Deleting posts that haven't breached the rules is a form of bad moderating.

There was nothing controversial in the posts that were deleted, I would just like to know so that next time I post something I have a fair idea of whether or not it gets to stay there.

Whether or not it is a waste of space is subjective. There was no indication which mod deleted the posts, you can't PM bbmods and in the list I looked at there was no email link for bbmods either. That is why I created the thread. You may also notice that I asked that once they got back to me, which it appears they aren't going to do, they could delete the thread.

I am not whinging, I am asking a question. If you can't tell the difference then try going back to school and going beyond 3rd grade.

Regardless of the circumstances in this case, let's just remember one thing, it is extremely difficuly to strike a balance between doing the right thing by the board, the right thing in the context of having a discussion stay on track, and the right thing by each poster. Everyone wants something different.

Thats all I want. The longer no reason is given the longer I for one will remain in the dark about what can and can't be posted. I have moderated boards myself and know how difficult it can be. However deleting posts that do not contravene the guidelines is a big no-no.
