How are guests able to see the Bored Board?

On some of the threads on the boards it show's that everyone that is active on a certain board, is accessing all the topics, I have also seen the 'Guests' number go up on that board aswell. It once showed atleast 20 guests viewing that board, but when I logged out and tried to access the board it wouldn't allow me.

Maybe it's a bug?

It's just 'bots' looking for email addresses to send SPAM to. They aren't actual users.

From our technical advisor:

There's a particularly invasive set of spambots out at the moment that are responsible for the high number of guests shown online recently. They are what you have been seeing.

12 guests being shown in the Bored Board does not mean that guests can actually see the forum - they can't. The guest number is just a result of mass spidering by these bots.
