The Greens should be forced to re-name themselves the Pinks. They're failing the environment, backing the Labor "MAD" bill, and have become a mockery of what a third option should be. The biggest issue we have is that any other viable options that stick a toe in the door eventually become corrupted by the system itself. Infiltrated, sidetracked, and eventually brought down from within. Exactly like Don Chipp's "Keep the Bastard's Honest" Democrats, who ended up (quite literally in Cheryl Kernot's case) in bed with the Labor party. Nah, in politics it only works the way it's designed when you keep going Left, Right, Left, Right. Always remember that "three's a crowd". Oh, and don't forget to vote, or we'll fine you for not endorsing "our" democracy...

The Greens vote in Queensland is always going to be limited to the progressive enclave of inner Brisbane – they're pretty much non-existent up there otherwise. Would be great to see them build on that and hopefully not go backwards from what they achieved in the last federal election, but I have a feeling that there's more room to grow elsewhere (e.g. Victoria, Tasmania and WA).

Otherwise, not sorry to see Queensland Labor get the boot – they did some pretty disgraceful things in order to cling on to power in Palaszczuk's last few years. While I'm sure they'll be even worse, hopefully the LNP have at least learned their lessons from the Campbell Newman era and will try to govern more moderately this time around.

Learning their lessons from the Campbell Newman era and trying to govern more moderately this time around are fervent hopes rather than realistic expectations. They could end up with worse results than one might expect. This result was change for the sake of change after so many years of the one party running government. The most likely outcome is that this will end up being a shit show very quickly with inexperienced hands on the wheel.

Wonder how the change in government will impact the 2032 Brisbane Olympics with respect to building a new stadium and etc.

As an outsider looking in, it appears they're underprepared to host the games. Is there a possibility it goes the same way as the 2026 Victoria Commonwealth Games?

Albo's upgrade kerfuffel shows clearly to me that the system is flawed.

Apparently it's OK for the federal transport minister to solicit free upgrades to business class for personal travel because he declared it.

In any organisation with a half decent Conflict of Interest policy, that could never happen. It's a blatant gift of influence and Albo, like most pollies on both sides of the fence, has his head so far up his own arse he can't see it.

Pollies should not be allowed to accept "gifts" like that, declaring it doesn't make it OK. If you want an upgrade to business class for a personal flight, use your frequent flyer points that you accrue due to all the government funded flights you take. Fkn out of touch entitlement culture.

Totally agree, Stui.

I heard a Labor MP on the radio the other day complaining this was turning into a "pile-on". Poor widdle prime minister, the media won't stop bullying him...

The "Do as I say, not as I Do" LNP attacking Albo over flight upgrades is hypocrisy at its finest. I prefer we use military aircraft to transport politicians and their staff. The C17 is a great aircraft to travel in, I have done it many times. The cost will be more than we are paying now though.
