Carlton is the one that should be looking at him, if they have any sense. As a cheap Martin replacement, the third marking option, he would be good value for them. With Owies also leaving, this is to me the deal that could see the Kennedy deal get done. The other option is Adelaide, given they have their two key forwards. Hopefully we can get something for him and not just see him languishing in the 2's for another year.

I remain optimistic that Ash will turn it around and deliver the talented best version of himself. I hope it’s at Collingwood.
I term the current Collingwood attack based strategy “Unceasing Waves” like on a stormy and windy day with rough seas. A Perfect Storm

It would be a bonus if someone took Ash off our hands. It both frees up a spot on our list and clogs up a spot on someone else's.

If only the AFL were like Local Football. You get paid only when you play Seniors, zip in the Magoos. *Sarcasm*Charlie Oneeye wrote: ↑Sat Oct 05, 2024 7:43 pm Ash will turn 28 in June. His contract ends 2025.

Surely he'll be delisted and paid out.Charlie Oneeye wrote: ↑Sat Oct 05, 2024 7:43 pm Ash will turn 28 in June. His contract ends 2025.

They know he'll be delisted, so no club will trade for him. They might look at picking him up free.
Re: #40 Ash Johnson
Next year as in March or something, right, not next October...?
i.e. last chance is "Supplemental selection period". First chances are "Delisted Free Agency Periods".

Re: #40 Ash Johnson
Just how quick was Johnsons decline after extending his contract !!!
A spot was open this season , but he wasn't selected, my gut feeling is that he plays reserves all of 25.
And we haven't traded him (yet)

I take back what I said about A.J. and Carlton. Forgot they had Silvagni to come back in.

Why would he care? He still gets paid out.
Is this supposed to put a rocket under him or something for motivational reasons?

Re: #40 Ash Johnson
I am not sure how it works..
1. Even with a year to run and without breaching their contract they can be delisted, and added to the draft pool at Collingwwods whim? Can this be done without their agreement? if so, why should they agree?
2. There is a commitment to redraft them as Rookies... is that because Collingwood is legally obliged to retain them for the length of their contract?
