I’d rather him than chasing Houston
Human behavioural studies suggest people who use a lot of swear words tend to be more honest & trustworthy.

So don't want a All-Australian for someone who is Borderline Best 22 for Lions?

Fair bit of skullduggery going on, clubs not wanting the opposition to get all the treasure. It’s not quite pirate kingdom of Nassau “trust no one and watch your back” level of skullduggery, but close. Time for the club to hoist the Jolly Roger (black and white suits us) and look after numero uno.

^ But not "The Club" where they're arguing over the payment one particular player is getting. And then Collingwood win the flag. Actually... do watch it.

Re: Trade Targets ~ Free Agency & MSD player discussion
Well we're going in to Monday and a few new names have appeared and a few more may still pop up.
I feel like Robertson and Lord are easier targets. Barrass is still Hawks bound despite some saying he could be jumped on. Kennedy is likely to stay put. And who knows with Houston, but it'll be either him or pick 13 which is still a great outcome. I'd be wrapped if we could also get a pick in the early-mid 20s.
I just hope we get something happening tomorrow.

He’d be a good get. I’d be happy with Lord, Robertson, and Tomlinson plus pick 13 and another first round.Take_a_Screamer wrote: ↑Sun Oct 13, 2024 9:47 pm ^ Weekend Update: Roos want Maynard, Dev Robertson wants to become a Pie

Swans should be embarrassed for their stance on Parker.

A well connected source told me this morning that 90% of what we are hearing is bullshit, but he wouldn't tell me which 90%!

They said the Clubs would much prefer 5 days but that the AFL loves the extended media frenzy.

Nathan Buckley:
“Clubs need to be allowed to trade players without their consent.
“At the moment, the players have too much of a whip hand. Clubs are going down these long-term contracts, and they’re doing it to prevent their players being poached. But it doesn’t stop that when the players choose to leave anyway with multiple years left on their contract. Or a club wants to move a player on with multiple years left.
“Why don’t we say: ‘If you sign a contract with us for a certain period of time, the AFL industry is going to honour that contract?’ That doesn’t mean it has to be with us [the club], it might be with another club. We need to be at $600,000 and above to be put in this category of being traded without your consent. It doesn’t matter about how many years.
“We’ll see far more player movement. It will control the inflationary impact of long-term contracts, it will make the players more accountable for their professional output year by year. There’s a chance to even up the competition quicker than we are doing at the moment.”
