Hey wait! Ollie Lord is still a part of the discussion, it's so complex, WTF?
I'm getting very nervous 🤢 as the clock is ticking down. Get this done!...

Let’s assume for one minute, the Houston deal gets done and he’s a Collingwood player.
Based on most media feedback, this complex trade reads like -
Out - Noble, Richards and our F1 and maybe some inconsequential later pick exchanges either way.
In - Houston and either #23 ( likely ) or #29.
That then leaves Collingwood with only # 23 OR #29 and our #36 as the only 2024 trading currency of any significance to work with.
The press are now saying Collingwood want to take #23 to the draft ( and I hope they do ) which may then leave #36 as the last piece of any trading currency we would have left over ( other than trading out another quality player )
Also note, we can’t trade out any more futures after we have moved our F1 on.
Point being, I’d suggest whatever we or the press want to entertain as another addition onto our list after Houston, would need to be a trade that would allow for pick # 36 and not much more, to get it done. We may yet trade out #23 if we had to but that seems counterproductive to what we’re hearing.
So, can we pick up a half decent KPP for #36 in this trade period. I guess that’s that’s the big question Collingwood need to be asking in the second week of the trade window.
Disclaimer - this is all under the assumption that the Houston trade goes through of course.

^ We've been linked with Freo/pick 11, but I dont see how? There is also the possibility of trading out Macrae/Reef/Johnson/Krueger, even if its just for later picks. Then of course there's the chance we could put picks together to go up a few spots, if there's a club looking for points (ie; 36, 52 & 55 for 31 - thats just an example)

I would like to focus on getting Kennedy once Houston (and hopefully Lord) are done. But after reading the above post, I'm not sure we'll be involved in other trades. You'd doubt the Blues would take 36 on its own.

Would we be happy hitting the draft with maybe 23, 36, 52, 55

With GWS saying they wont give anything more than pick 53 for Stringer, I think you could say 36 would get it done. That or possibly 52 and 55 together. Just saying. :P

would gladly bundle 52 & 55 for Stringer.

Essendon need points and want him gone ski.

If we got Stringer, I would trade out Krueger and Macrae for a pair of 3rd rounders in 2025 (of course, Brisbane may offer more for Krueger in the absence of Daniher...)

Except we’ve put a line through Stringer. Probably best to just stick with what we know.
Speaking of Stringer, maybe we make enquiries about Riccardi if Stringer makes his way to the Giants. Things can change quickly during a trade period. Just like Ginnivan requesting a trade when we picked up Shultz.
How are Sam Frost and James Blanck feeling at the Hawks, now that they have just added two key defenders who will play in front of them ? There’s plenty to play out yet.

He’s always been a very handy forward and a very creative player! No surprise at all. Cue the TAC GF reference again?!

Be surprised if the Giants let Riccardi go, he’s critical for them and plays second ruck, good role player. Some discussion on Stringer allowing Toby to move up the ground more. I can’t imagine a world where GWS actually being in Shiel and Stringer but stranger things have happened !

From 2022 Trade thread [i.e modus operandi doesn't change from year to year...]

Lots to squeeze in. Final day runs until 7:30... will be televised on foxfooty I believe.
What's the bet all we see on monday and tuesday is more dick waving and postulating, resulting in Mexican stand-offs?

Then the triggers get pulled late weds only when the sands through the hour-glass start thinning out, thus clubs cramming everything out at the last minute.

I say this year after year: reduce trade period to monday-friday, and only extended to a 6th day [monday] with AFL permission, to finalise any deals.
That way clubs unofficially have saturday and sunday to kick around scenarios with each other off the clock.
After what, two days of ZERO trading, I'd be stunned If anything actually goes down by close of business friday...

Be surprised if the Giants let Riccardi go, he’s critical for them and plays second ruck, good role player.
I’d be a little surprised too but the point is, during the trade period, for every action there’s a reaction. There is nearly always a player or two who feels as though their spot is in jeopardy whenever a higher profile player joins their club. They’re the KPP players we should be sniffing around in the last couple days of the trade period. Having said that, the problem with Collingwood is more that, should we secure Houston, we will have very little left to entice a club to let that targeted player out of his contract.
Sam Frost and James Blanck are better examples as per the above because Hawks have just added two key defenders of higher quality. Something has to give at team selection, so you make enquiries in that direction.
By extension, Shultz arrives, Ginnivan leaves.
Perryman arrives and two days later, MacRae wants out. IF Houston arrives, who knows what that domino effect has at Collingwood, come the last couple day of trading. It might all be boring now but that just makes for an even bigger last couple days of trading.
