Lachie Schultz (Shooter)

While we all welcome Lachie let's remember also that McStay only played 14 (13 if you don't count 19% TOG match) out of a possible 26 games this season.
McStay may not be a superstar but after returning from injury he improved the further the year went on and if he keeps kicking 2 goals a game next year it'll be a career best season. Without his contribution we don't beat GWS.
For mine we have ourselves a new small forward on hand for next season but also hopefully a key forward that's available for 20+ games and one who has found his groove now in our system.
Giddy up.

Lachie NOMINATED us - an established, strong 30+ goal a year small forward with a great tackling technique NOMINATED us.
He wants to be here and will play for the jumper. And our chaos ball play will suit him down to the ground.
A future first and the Adams pick is at the top end but he walks straight into the team and makes us a better, more competitive and higher scoring proposition.

Incentive now, let's push that future 1st round pick down the list as far as possible by winning another flag.

I’m excited about Schultz. What a dynamic highlight package. I can imagine him and Bobby flicking the ball around and bewitching the opposition.
I also like that the addition of a small forward increases the pressure on Ginnivan, who is now further from being an automatic pick. Hopefully he will put his head down this pre-season and get a lot fitter, perhaps even eyeing off Tay’s mid/fwd role. He’s shown he doesn’t mind being under the pack and he seems to have footy smarts. He’ll be competing with Finn and Beau for the role, which increases the need for hard work.

100%. As a sport we massively over rate the value of draft picks.jonmac1954 wrote:Too many people desperate to "win" the trade.
It's not about "winning" the trade, it's about getting it done.
Through 39 drafts the 15th pick has average 83 games in their career. Do you think we’ll get 83 games out of Schultz?
And that’s not taking into consideration the quality of games either. Schultz is a known quantity. A draft pick is speculative especially once you get outside the top 10
"The sergeant" will be a fine addition to our team. What I particularly liked, watching his highlights, is how powerfully built he is. Don't fret over giving up a future 1st round pick. They are always a gamble, sadly as recent history has shown for us, whereas Shultz is a ready made proven forward. Throw him and McStay into our GF side and we'd have been a 4-5 goal better team.Donny wrote:Already overdone.Charlie Oneeye wrote:"I Know Nooothing!" (someone will get it lol)
Must we use American B grade comedy actors and/or their characters to burden our players ?

I for one am happy that L. Schultz has joined The Mighty Flagpies for many of the positive reasons that previous posters have given above.
I'm looking forward to him lining up alongside Bobby Hill, Elliot, Mihocek, McStay, and possibly Ginnivan or Johnson. Hopefully whatever combination the match committee settles upon give opposition defenses headaches and we go onto win matches (and hopefully future grand finals) by more than a goal or two. In Fly and Wrighty we trust.

Collingwood 4 ever.
