Will Brodie would be a really good pick up - 5 years younger than Adams. Good in and under. Not sure why he fell out of favour this year at the Dockers. He had an excellent season in 2022 and one of the reasons Freo made the top 8.

In 2022 he averaged 6 clearance and 27 disposals a game (played all 24)
Also laid 127 tackles.

2023 Trade Period Thread

Post by inxs88 »

Hope the Mods team don't mind a fresh thread given Trade week officially opens today and the amount of fresh content is coming in heavy.

Graham Wright on Trade Radio Summary:

1. Up to Sydney to make an offer first for Adams and aren't ruling out player swaps in the deal
2. Mild interest in Jack Billings says Graham which is a euphemism for we are going to net him for Pick 75!!
3. All 5 de-listed players won't be re-rookied
4. Leppitsch: confident in retaining him
5. Scott Selwood: has rival interest but contracted to stay on
6. All of our coaching team are being approached
7. Aiming to build for the future whilst staying in the window
8. Open to all recruiting levers: free agency, draft and trade week to improve the list
9. Flicked Steven May's comments down to fine leg for a two runs

Collingwood

Following the highs of their premiership-winning performance last month, Collingwood's fortune has since turned as far as trade plans. The premiers have lost out in pursuit of free agent pair Tom Doedee and Todd Goldstein, while contracted midfielder Taylor Adams has requested a trade to Sydney. If you're going to post these, list a source. And not from a fan Twitter handle, a legitimate source.

OFF CONTRACT 2023
Aiden Begg, Josh Carmichael, Will Kelly, Nathan Kreuger

what does this mean exactly? Does it mean you haven't been delisted yet, or re-signed it. Are we waiting to see if someone wants to trade for them?

Lists aren't due for finalisation until October 31st so not every player decision needs determining as of October 9th. Carmichael and Kreuger are likely to sign-on with 1 year extensions. Begg likely to benefit fro rule extensions for mid year draftees (2 to 3 years) and Kelly is the big conundrum. Who's brave enough to walk into Ned's office and have "the chat"!!

Anyone not delisted and is out of contract means other clubs are interested in their services. Yes, we want to keep a hold of them but if the right deal is offered up and the players agree they are traded.

I will add, whilst that Adams has requested a trade. Noble 80 straight games and gets dumped in the finals. If there is anyone who has a reason to ask for a trade it's him. Just putting that out there.

Lol, that really made me laugh!
They don't call him Ned Kelly for no reason.

Seriously, the club's "raison d'être" is not for players to mark time.
Put him to work and try him out during 2024. If not, time to say goodbye (hey that's a good song)

Noble - Isn't he contracted? Plenty of players miss out on playing in a GF. Wasn't he the difference between winning or losing in a couple of H/A games? He's just as much a part of the premiership team as the others. Therefore a must keep imho.

Billings - a superb kick, but not overly quick. Ross Lyon couldn't find him a position. St Kilda needs midfielders and he doesn't fit there. If we had him he could either play forward or back. To me he's an upgrade on Bianco. I'd be making a play for him, especially if St Kilda pays a part of his salary.

Kelly - definite keep for me. He's tall and quick. These players don't grow on trees. I'd play him on the wing. It's a fact taller players take longer to mature.

Tom Wilson - obviously it was the Tom who is on our list, is the one who got delisted. Another reason for keeping Kelly.

Don’t no about Billings. Can’t see what he would add to our team whereas each of the imports last year had a clear role.

Trade radio talking Tom Hawkins may be upset his cats contract has not been sorted yet. Do we want a 35 year old Tom Hawkins?
Ed Allen kicked our last goal of the year at the 58minute mark

100% for the right price and a short contract...

Been thinking about the Adams trade.

Lets see how we turn him into something massive.

Adams and ALL of Grundy's contract for a late pick, who cares what it is.

War chest to go after Ben King or Logan McDonald?

Interestingly, Adelaide just got pick 19 as compensation for Tom Doedee.
