^As long as you have the right senior players around them.
e.g. imagine the prospect of blooding young players at Essendon at the moment.
Then cast your mind back to certain Queens Birthday match a decade or so back, when an un-yielding team of the day, gave a then 18 year old no.1 draft pick Jack Watts, the old 'welcome to senior footy' gang embrace.
If we ever saw that creep into our playing group, the Living Dead i.e. Hiss & Co, would arise from their Victoria Park crypts, to wreak havoc on the establishment.

How is Liam McMahon travelling?
For those who keep a keen eye on the VFL, how is McMahon going?
198cm, 20yo. KEY FORWARD.
I keep reading about how we need to draft a key forward, but is the answer already on the list? How close is he to selection?
This is his second year on the list after being taken with pick 31 in the 2020 Draft.

He’s looking very good. Will Kelly is looking very good. Only thing is neither is a multiple goal kicker at VFL level. However you could play either down back as a tall defender. Projecting ahead in the next couple of years Mihocek and Madgen will be about 30 years old and most likely Howe would have retired, so there’s opportunities for McMahon to secure a long term role in the team.
I think he’s going ok. These young talls can take 4 - 5 years to become best 22 players. All you’re looking for is continual improvement and he has certainly improved heaps on his first season.
Couple of points to consider, he has virtually been our stand alone tall defender on multiple occasions this year with so many injuries to key defenders. He played on Weideman a fair bit on the weekend against the best side in the VFL and we were comfortably beaten. Weideman had little impact, so that’s a good day and a great learning curve for McMahon. We might not even see this kid until 2024 but as long as he shows improvement, then you stick with him.
Mitch Lewis ( hawks ) is a great example. Last player picked in an National draft a few years back. He’s around 23 now and having a breakout year as a key forward. You got to give the talls time.

From what I have seen, he has very good skills and reads the play well. He simply lacks the size and strength to mix is with the big forwards st this stage.
Had a few injuries last year which held him back a little.
Has potential but will take time
