I'll believe Abramovich's poisoning when I see solid evidence. It sounds like just the PR scheme he'd hatch to distance himself from Putin and rehabilitate his image. It could be true, but there was a lack of scrutiny about the reporting, although a Ukrainian MP was also mentioned. Not that Putin needs an excuse to poison people, of course.

Some of my pre-election concerns about the Biden administration’s approach to foreign policy seem to be coming to fruition after all:

As with Trump, Putin purposely changes his mind to wrong-foot people, so you always have to bear that in mind, but:
If that does prove to be true, and as I say this is a psychiatry that purposely flips to maintain instability, it will show the cost isn't bottomless.
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/videos/2 ... mand-videoRussian President Vladimir Putin is backing away from a demand that European buyers make gas payments in rubles, according to the readout of a call between Putin and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

Fair enough if it's a pattern, but something like this is not about a trivial act of senility. And it could still end up being depicted as anything from a mistake to an ingenious strategy to an irrelevancy, which tells you how meaningless it really is.David wrote:Some of my pre-election concerns about the Biden administration’s approach to foreign policy seem to be coming to fruition after all:

Far more likely is this absolutely iron-clad universal: people fixate on one or another thing to make themselves feel in control.
Don't get me wrong. I definitely agree the risk is Biden using this for domestic electoral advantage, but there has to be more than an Oscar's moment or the odd slip up to evidence that at a dangerous level. Everyone uses every opportunity somewhat; but what you're looking for is a pattern that is beyond the scope of sane risk management.

The Guardian just reported Putin said: "The US will make profits from global instability and solve its problems at the expense of others."
I'm no friend of US history, but honestly, has the bloke ever seen a mirror or has he cracked them all like the vampire he is? He really is Trump-level delusive.

Being a hypocrite doesn’t mean he’s wrong, though.
On Biden, if it was one gaffe you could brush it off, but this seems to be a deliberate approach on his part. It just makes you wonder whether he’s in over his head.

Perhaps not, but I’m not sure ignoring them is an option.doriswilgus wrote:Putin is a pathological liar like his mate Trump. Those sort of people are best ignored. They have nothing constructive to give to the world.pietillidie wrote:The Guardian just reported Putin said: "The US will make profits from global instability and solve its problems at the expense of others."

We know Biden's increasingly senile, but on this, like his withdrawal from Afghanistan, I can't really see where he's gone too far wrong.
