Outplayed and out coached today. A super disappointing effort. I sat in the rain and watched a team playing off for a grand final lack intensity and effort. The midfield was slaughtered- yes that midfield was pathetic.

Kudos to our backline for standing up so well. Moore will be a star if he keeps going like he is.

They played because we had injuries. That’s why you have a list of 40 in the first place.
As has already been mentioned, the loss is squarely at the feet of the senior players. You don’t rely on depth players to get you across the line in cut throat finals.

Little Johnny Noble look terrified before the game. Jack Crisp was laughing and smiling and didn't he play brilliantly, especially in the first half.

I love our back line. Not their fault we lost today. I agree fully with those who are calling for a back man's medal, in honour of Danny Frawley. He would've been so proud of some the gigantic, thumping spoils that Moore and Howie made today. I am so over the Brownlow being a mid's medal.

He was interviewed on SEN today and explained that when his retinas were examined, the eye specialist found an old retinal tear as well as the one he sustained most recently. He nutted it out with the physios and they identified a game really early in the season where this could have happened. The good news is that although he is still restricted at the moment in regards to physical exertion, he shouldn't miss much of the pre-season, if at all.

Who would've thought eh? There were plenty of detractors slamming his poor form, but the poor bugar probably couldn't even see the ball properly!!!.

Great comment, PP. Yes, our defence was fantastic again. John Noble, well done to you. Only a kid, in his 5th (or is it 6th) AFL game. He will learn so much from this, and I am looking forward to see him develop next year, after a pre-season. I sense that he might also be develop as a fast small forward.

Agree re the backline and Darcy. Agree that the mids didn't perform as well as they might have, but the mid problem has been an issue all year.
Don't agree that we were out-coached on the day. If anything, the game was lost at the selection table. JT, much to his credit, threw himself into the contest in the last quarter, but Varcs would've thrown himself for the whole game.

Yes, Mason has had three eye surgeries so far and the prognosis is good, at this stage.

Yes, It was mentioned after the operation that the other eye had been repaired. At the time didn’t say the issue with the other eye.

I’d like to thank to players and the coaches of the club for an overall successful season. More than wins than loses. Close loss in the prelim to a very good side. I love this football club and that’s it. Regardless of the end result it adds joy to my life.

Apart from our dismal midfield performance - Grundy and Adams notwithstanding- we lost it with the selection gamble of Reid and Aish. It’s not their fault but with little recent match experience, it would have been difficult for Varcoe or Scharenberg to do worse. Overall team structure would obviously needed to be different, but not detrimental.

Not angry after our amazing last quarter fight back, but a good lesson learned about underdone second tier players

So true. I think the absence of Cox today was pretty telling. So often, you only appreciate something fully when it is absent.
