I agree. He taught Grundy a lesson by having 59 less hitouts (yes, that is not a typo), about half as many disposals and giving away 6 free kicks.Adz wrote:Mumford taught Grundy a football lesson. He mauled him once the ball hit the deck.
Seriously, sometimes I wonder what game some of you watch. Mumford was completely pantsed.
Watch the game again. Mumford had more clearances than some of our mids.Mr Miyagi wrote:You mean poked him in the eye, kneed him, dropped into his back, shoved him in the back... yeah, real football lesson on how to get away with shit.Adz wrote:Mumford taught Grundy a football lesson. He’s “stay at the back” rucking was excellent.
That’s great, Grundy hits the ball, it’s a shame only a handful have any impact for us.

Collingwood plays a totally team based structural system. Clearly GWS had a plan for suppressing Mihocek. The wet weather conditions made this alot easier, because Mihocek relies on his excellent mobility, which is made less significant when the ball movement is slowed up. Moreover,What'sinaname wrote:That's all good and well, but finals are there for players to make their names. No one remembers players who were great during the H&A but couldn't perform in finals, but everyone remembers players who made their mark when it matters.Magpietothemax wrote:Agree absolutely, and was in the process of typing a similar comment. He had a bad game tonight, but was not just due to him. It was due also to the fact that our mids were down for most of the game. He has been a gun in our forward line throughout the season. He does need however another tall to assist. Unfortunately, Ben Reid was unable to provide enough tonight.. Mihocek is the perfecgt second forward target...we need a first target so that Brodie can play to his true potential.kymbo5@yahoo.com.au wrote:To those bagging Checkers.
Yes - he had little influence on the game today.
But - He has essentially carried the forward line this year, he is a big reason we won many games to get us to this point.
He is a fine key forward. We dont need to throw him away just yet.
Mihocek will always lose out when our mids cannot generate inside 50's to an adequate extent. Cameron kicked 3 goals, in contrast to Mihocek, not just because he is a superior key forward, but also because GWS generated so many more I50's than we did. To round on Mihocek in this game is to miss the point.
Free Julian Assange!!

Mumford had 3 clearances. Grundy had 10.
The ruck contest was possibly the most one-sided I have ever witnessed - our mids didn't turn up to play but that had absolutely nothing to do with Mumford.

No. Nothing will change. We are the Dallas Cowboys of footy. We are an accident waiting to happen. What can go wrong will go wrong. Most of all though as long as Eddie is making a profit every year he's happy. One flag in 20 years at the helm and no longer the biggest footy club in the land (we are behind Richmond and Hawthorn now). As long as Eddie Everywhere is in the job nothing will change.Magpietothemax wrote:Fox are purveyors of fake news. They are journalistic scum. Applies in politics, and no less in AFL football.
This result is disastrous for the Pies??
Why?
Because GWS won, despite the absence of Greenfingers, Whitfield, Coniglio, Ward???
OK, but we were without JDG, Langdon, Cox, and Greenwood, and Beams.
Our outs were just as massive as theirs.
But no mention is made of this.
We need to totally ignore this media scum pack.
The entire Fox rabble were blatantly hoping for a GWS win.
Their real intentions are now clear: so they can pour their rabid, anti-Collingwood hysteria onto the airwaves.
This loss won't be catastrophic.
It will make us extremely angry.
And determined to find the missing parts of the jigsaw puzzle that we still need.

Yes! Absolutely.
Truly, I still don't know exactly where we lost it. It was just 4 points after all!!!
GWS have always had extreme talent and coupled with the fierce competitiveness they have grown this year, it may be even too much for Richmond to handle.
I am just proud of the massive comeback we made in the last quarter. The Collingwood spirit is alive and well and that's the main thing.. No need to hang anything on individual players.

1st round selection that we could trade for.PyreneesPie wrote:For sure mudlark, but where is such a player????mudlark wrote:We need some big changes to our list and No 1on the list is a full forward who can kick more than 40 metres and take a mark and contest. Lots more but that will be a great start..

However, I think Richmond will smash GWS next week, because they played their GF against us.
