I think Manchester City are favourites for the title now in light of their Champions League elimination.
Liverpool have to focus on both competitions and have a more hectic schedule compared to City.

It's getting very tight. It's true Liverpool have a balancing act, but they were able to rest players for the second leg against Porto. Man. City have more EPL games to play too.Jezza wrote:I think Manchester City are favourites for the title now in light of their Champions League elimination.

Liverpool look like they've got a second wind after faltering a bit. Scoring of late has not been a problem for them. They are a real chance to win both the EPL & the Champions League.
"If they can remove the emotion from the Champions League loss, City will draw heart from the fact that they dominated large parts of the game, enjoying 66 percent possession and 20 shots to Spurs' 11.K wrote:I wonder how many player differences there'll be in the next Man. City v. Tottenham match. It must be unusual for them to play each other this many times in such a short time. FiveThirtyEight are predicting Man. City 70%, Tottenham 11%.
While Mauricio Pochettino's options are limited by injuries, including to attacking fulcrum Harry Kane, Guardiola has plenty of fresh alternatives to call on, including German winger Leroy Sane, who did not feature until the 84th minute on Wednesday.
Third-placed Spurs have plenty to play for as well -- the battle for a top-four finish and qualification for the Champions League is tight with Arsenal and Chelsea just a point behind and sixth-placed Manchester United only three points adrift."

ESPN says: "March 16 was also the last time there was a draw in the Premier League, since then 34 games have passed ... That ... is the longest run of tieless games in Premier League history."Jezza wrote:Correct.K wrote:Social media tells us there has not been an EPL draw since Bournemouth 2-2 Newcastle a month ago.
Interesting stat.
"The danger is that games between the "big six" and "also-rans" can occasionally look like training exercises, with the smaller club simply looking to frustrate in the hope of nicking an unlikely point.K wrote:...
The fat lady seems to have sung in most other major football leagues:
La Liga: Barcelona > 99%
Bundesliga: Bayern Munich 87%; Dormund 13%
Serie A: Juventus > 99%
Ligue 1: PSG > 99%
Primeira Liga: Benfica 58%; Porto 42%
The psychology and sociology of following football must be totally different in those leagues.
That said, the Premier League is in better shape than Italy's Serie A, where Juventus are about to collect an eighth successive title, or Germany, where Bayern Munich demolished Dortmund, their closest rivals, 5-0 and will likely be champions for a seventh successive season. Likewise, Paris Saint-Germain's immense wealth is blowing the opposition away in France since Monaco's vintage year with Kylian Mbappe and Bernardo Silva.
...
All of those countries are crying out for a Leicester-esque tale of the unexpected to spice up the scene. At least Spain has Atletico Madrid to occasionally challenge the duopoly of Real Madrid and Barcelona in La Liga. Thank you, Diego Simeone."

Manchester City 1-0 Tottenham Hostspur
The goal came within the first 5 minutes.
Man. City had most of the possession, but there were chances for both sides. It was a nervous last 10 or 15 minutes for Man. City, as Tottenham pushed for an equalizer.
De Bruyn was injured and went off. Two yellow cards were given in extra time, as tempers flared. There were multiple (denied) appeals for handball in the box. None of them looked deliberate. The wording of the law is going to be changed, from exactly what to what I don't know.

Bookies' odds, following Liverpool's win over Cardiff City:
Man. City ~59%
Liverpool ~41%
FiveThirtyEight's predictions:
Man. City 57%
Liverpool 43%
FiveThirtyEight predictions for UCL qualification:
Tottenham 89%
Arsenal 54%
Chelsea 49%
Man. United 7%
It's very tight between Arsenal & Chelsea -- not that Tottenham are totally safe.
Elsewhere, Juventus & PSG put everyone out of their misery and confirmed title wins in their leagues. We still have to wait for Barcelona & Bayern Munich to do the same.
