No argument here. My original comment was, admittedly, a defensive response to a poster who has a history of potting Sidey, at every opportunity. He'd be delighted with Steele's performance, no doubt. It's a bit sickening actually.5 from the wing on debut wrote:I understand that a career and a season is more than one game. Formally frankiboy and FrankieGoesToCollingwood.
And so, Vice-Captain Back to Back has his second Copeland in a row.
That's 7 successive top 5 finishes and top 3 in 4 of the last 5 (4th, 3rd, 2nd, 5th, 3rd, 1st and 1st). His "low" 5th finish in 2015 came in a season in which he only played 16 games.
Only 22 players have won the Copeland twice. He is one of an elite group who have won it back to back. The others are Nathan Buckley, Scott Pendlebury, Jimmy Clement, Len Thompson, Bobby Rose, Albert Collier, Des Fothergill, Phonse Kyne, Dane Swan, Paul Licuria, the Weed, Micky McGuane, Thorold Merrett and Peter Moore. Of that select group, only Rose, Collier, Fothergill, Merrett, Moore, Licuria and Swan before him have won at least one of their back to back trophies in a Grand Final year.
If only he wasn't repeatedly played out of position in the middle of the field, instead of up forward, so that Oxley could take his rightful place in the centre square.
