So it would seem Brisbane have been dicks till the end and have only accepted pick 56 instead of 57 because it has points attached.

Picks 41/44 are worth 774pts. A bid at 17 is worth 820pts.

Monco Matt - we weren't going to use pick 18 anyway, and next years first pick could well have been devalued if we went into deficit. In reality it's still next years first round for Beams, and pick 18 plus the rest of our 2018 draft picks for Quaynor and Kelly.

I'm wrapped to have him back - I think we'll be celebrating this decision about this time next year, with premiership medallions!!

I hope our guys know the rule and didn't screw the 56/57 up.

And Beams they already know his personality and temperament so its a less of a risk then drafting a Wells in for example.

But we cant always just keep saying "get kids"
we should be saying "get premierships"

keep that in mind

Welcome back Beamsy, im glad u had a nice long holiday in QLD
Welcome home Beamsy. Love ya son.And YES Woodys!!We've got plenty of kids now.We want to see them become men for the next decade and then we can concentrate on getting more kids in a few years .

Can't say that I love the deal, but Beams is a good get.

In giving away the 2019 first I'd have ideally preferred a younger player.

For example, I'd have been very happy with: 2 first rounders and Langdon for Wingard. I think that matches the Hawks offer. We have too many half back flankers, so had some capital there.

Still, retaining our players and bringing in Beams and Roughead while securing enough points (or near enough) for Quaynor and Kelly is a good outcome.
Well done boys!

A New Number For Beams

Post by The Boy Who Cried Wolf »

Well obviously 17 is occupied presently by Callum Brown, so we'll need a new number for Beams - I suggest Faz's number 1.

We didn't give up 2 first round picks. They gave us back 2 picks in the 40's which we will use on Kelly and Quaynor.
More like one and a half or one and a quarter
round 1 picks.
If we went into major deficit then next years first pick would have blown out.

But it's also possible that Cal changes his number to free up #17
