So, it is time to give Vice-Captain Back-to-Back's thread a little bump.

I didn't rate him BOG against Melbourne, if only because Cox and De Goey were so spectacular - but it is worth observing that he played a tremendous, hard game in the centre for us yesterday. 32 disposals, 14 contested possessions, 5 tackles and 3 goal assists in a very important match. It's a shame he couldn't have kicked the 2 or 3 goals he should have nailed but I think we probably all underestimate how hard it is to do the in-and-under work at the coalface.

It is worth noticing that Treloar and he have (however temporarily) gone to positions 1 and 2 on the "most disposals" rankings across the AFL.

It's interesting also to observe how well Sidey adjusts his game to fit the particular contest. Last week he had 37 disposals, 29 of them uncontested. This week, in a genuine arm-wrestle, almost 50% of his ball was won in the contest.

Just to add to that, he has now had 8 30+ disposal games in 12 matches this season. That's as many as he had all last year.

Also, his contested possessions average is up from 8 per game last year to 11 this year. And he is handballing off a lot more, putting the pill into the hands of the pacy runners like Treloar and I think that means a much better all-round team performance.

On the down side, I think his contested marking needs work.

He is at the same time one of the best and underestimated players in the comp.

He can do things that many elite mid's cannot do, much of which would go unnoticed to a majority of the footy public.

If not for Pendle's, he'd be captain. For Sidey, it would not worry him in the slightest that he is not because of the respect he has for Pendles.

He's certainly underestimated. He got 9 of the coaches' votes this weekend but Nick's is full of people (again) who couldn't find a spot for him in their top 5.

Fantastic Guy, Brilliant player, Excellent leader,
One of our best 3 or 4 for a decade, Steelo deserves the Charlie this year, but may have to content himself with Back to Back Copies.

Big Congrats to one of the best liked, most respected guys in the game.

And anytime you wanna repeat that 10 goals in the TAC effort, just go for it!

And still only 27! RIGHT at his prime,

... oh who cares, we did it!!!!!"
