AFL players without a home?

Post by Presti35 »

What kind of players will we be looking for to fill our VFL list in 2018?

Here's a list of some AFL experienced players who didn't find a home in the rookie draft:

Jonathan Freeman
(age 23, 199 cm, Full-forward. Qld)

Michael Close
(age 23, 197 cm, Full-forward. Vic)

Zac Clarke
(age 27, 203 cm, Ruck. Vic)

Nick Suban
(age 27, 182 cm, Mid. Vic)

Lachlan Hansen
(age 29, 197 cm, CHB. Vic)

Sam Collins
(age 23, 194 cm, Defender. Vic)

Blaine Boekhorst
(age 24, 185 cm, Mid. WA)

Tom Ruggles
(age 25, 186 cm, Def. Vic)

Tom Lamb
(age 21, 193 cm, Utility. Vic)

Corey Wagner
(age 20, 180 cm, Mid. Qld)

Ben Howlett
(age 29, 180 cm, Mid-Fwd. WA)

Jackson Ramsay
(age 23, 183 cm, Def. WA)

From that list, I think Boekhorst, Ruggles or Collins could add something to the VFL. Boek might find himself back in WA.

I'd like to see Ramsay stay with the club, but I doubt he'd want to hang around the VFL. WAFL teams should come calling anyway.

I guess Hansen, Howlett or Suban could add some kind of leadership. And I think Lamb could offer something as a youngster who couldn't make his mark in W.A.

I don't know if we should be looking at talls for the VFL, but I'd think that Freeman will stay in Qld. Close, I thought, would get another look at AFL level, so who knows. And Clarke could be someone to look at in a fitness staff/coaching capacity.

Anyway, just look at Dom Barry. 23 years old, delisted by the Demons after 2014 and now back on an AFL list after showing great form in the SANFL. So for guys like Lamb, Collins, etc. It's possible.

Hansen might be a good tutor for McLarty etc. Woild also be a reasonably good player at this level. Close may be worth a look. If we find something in him could be worth a rookie spot in a year.
Annoying opposition supporters since 1967.
