Can anyone explain how the bidding system will work for father son given that we have already traded our first round pick for Treloar?

yw, na.

each draft pock has a points value attached to it. a combination of second and third round picks provides greater overall points value than simply one early first rounder.

Probably why we were willing to trade away future picks last year. We can use a number of later picks to buy F/Ss which would otherwise be picked in earlier rounds.

While there can be debates as to who is the greatest Collingwood player of all time, from amongst champions like Daics, Thompson, Greening, Rose, Carman, Coventry, Pendles, Swan, Bucks etc. imo, there can be no question at all as to who is our most loved player of all time - Daicos by a country mile. There was just something indefinable and emotionally empowering about the Macedonian Marvel, which transcended way beyond his obvious skill and ability as a footballer. We can admire any number of players, but the feelings for Daics can only be called love. To think that we may be about to recruit his son, brings back the tingling feeling I got every time I saw Daics go anywhere near the ball. If Josh is half as good as his old man he'll be an absolute champion. I just pity the poor kid will forever be compared to his old man. Then again, who knows, Gary Ablett Jr had to deal with the same unfair burden, and he seems to have coped alright.

It's highly unlikely that anyone will bid a first round pick for either Daicos, Brown (Son of Gavin) or Richardson (son of Alan) at the end of the year.

So all we have to do is wait to see if anyone bids on them at all, and if they do we simply match that offer be it a 2nd, 3rd, 4th etc round pick.

it's ironic that in one way you wish someone would bid a first rounder, which means the 'son' is rated highly by another club

With the points value assigned to each pick you can match a first round pick with a combination of late picks. This is why the clubs with academy players they wanted to draft were willing to trade players for lots of low picks, in the bidding system 4 4th round picks that you may not even use in the actual draft can be better than 1 2nd round pick.

was just spoken about on afl360. suggested he will get picked up by someone while the pressure will be on collingwood to draft him and not let him go elsewhere.

There will be a riot if we don't draft the son of Daicos.

every village needs an idiot so know your role, play your role.

i haven't seen him play. presumably he can play. given our plays for treloar and aish selecting sod suggests to me we will not be overly active at the draft in november.
