A month later he has requested a trade to Queensland and surprisingly it's Brisbane who have offered up a contract offering Beams a lot more $$ than what he is on now. As for his Father being ill which is unfortunate and I hope he gets better. If Beams plays for Brisbane he will be away every second week. One of our best players wants out and he is using the "family reasons" to get out of a contract.

Unfortunately, some people can't see above their own height and always project their morals and thoughts on to the rest of us - often with the belief of some superior insight.

I support whatever decisions he makes on this matter as what is stated is true. Family before footy.

But I will ask a few questions as I just hope the club and Dayne can find a way here.


If I step back from the emotional side of things and think purely from a football perspective.....how many away games will the brions play this year? Would he not spend a significant amount of time away regardless?

I am positive there has been a similar case in the past of an afl player living and training interstate and only flying down for match day. The name escapes me. Could we offer Dayne a similar arrangement? Would it be worth the logistical mess?

I guess a lot of it hinges on how much he wants to play with his brother and how important that is to his father, because to play devils advocate, I just don't see that he needs to leave us necessarily.

Give him a year off paid and reassess at the end of it?

Dayne gets to be home with his father. We retain a much loved and elite player.

Perhaps I am over simplifying matters of the heart?

Giving Beams time off doesn't solve the problem of his father wanting both sons playing together in the same team. Don't know how the club gets around that one.
