Lol. Yes, it is a bit of a relief when the final credits roll.
The ending's kind of weird, to be honest. It's like the story finishes about an hour before the film does, and the actors are just sitting down with nothing to do. Oh, and someone gets shot.

He actually did cut it down three years later to a far shorter four-hour film. Just to show that he was capable of making long films, and, well, still-pretty-damn-long films.
