Dostoevsky, I believe, Inkling (although I haven't read it so can't say with 100% certainty). I think what would put a lot of people off is how unrelentingly grim it is. In terms of atmosphere and look, it's pretty damn good. Hope you get a chance to see it. :)

Looking forward to the Melbourne International Film Festival next month. Richard Linklater's Boyhood looks fantastic, as does Alain Resnais's final film Life of Riley. Plus, one for the oldies: a new film by Jean-Luc Godard!

Anyone else thinking of going along this year?

^^^ I'm waiting until they give Luis Bunuel's next film a run.

Just watched 'Get the Gringo'. Great action film set in a Mexican prison town about a thief (Mel Gibson) who has stolen money and ended up on the Mexican side of the border and is sent to jail by some cops who appropriate his criminal proceeds. A coherent if somewhat farfetched plot that leads to enough action to satisfy Mel's Lethal Weapon fans.

Highly recommend 7.5/10.
