Dostoevsky, I believe, Inkling (although I haven't read it so can't say with 100% certainty). I think what would put a lot of people off is how unrelentingly grim it is. In terms of atmosphere and look, it's pretty damn good. Hope you get a chance to see it.

Looking forward to the Melbourne International Film Festival next month. Richard Linklater's Boyhood looks fantastic, as does Alain Resnais's final film Life of Riley. Plus, one for the oldies: a new film by Jean-Luc Godard!

Just watched 'Get the Gringo'. Great action film set in a Mexican prison town about a thief (Mel Gibson) who has stolen money and ended up on the Mexican side of the border and is sent to jail by some cops who appropriate his criminal proceeds. A coherent if somewhat farfetched plot that leads to enough action to satisfy Mel's Lethal Weapon fans.
Highly recommend 7.5/10.
