Watched it last night. I should put a review in the WTF thread because that's how I felt most of the way through it.5150 wrote:Lone Ranger... Meh 7/10.
The whole thing was basically a vehicle for Johnny Depp to play Captain Jack Sparrow on horseback with a dead bird on his head
Don't get me wrong, I genuinely laughed out loud at parts of it , ("Do you know what Tonto means in Spanish"?) but the flash forwards to the old indian at the fair lost my interest completely. I get what it was about but thought it was a dumb stunt.
The other bit I struggled with was why the need to make the Lone Ranger such a nerd and Tonto the lead character. Was that a sop to present day USA not being able to cast the noble savage as the sidekick?
I enjoyed it but don't think I'd watch it again. 6/10
Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down.

I feel like such a typical man for saying this, but I'm really looking forward to Blue is the Warmest Colour:

I found a random Lesbian discussion forum discussing the film. Makes for fascinating reading (mostly because Lesbian sexuality is so rarely presented in mainstream media):

Saw Witness for the Prosecution. Recorded from the ABC on 7/8/13.
Charles Laughton, Marlene Dietrich & Tyrone Power.
Thoroughly enjoyed it.
Fine film directed by one of my all time favourites: Billy Wilder who as usual also wrote the screenplay based on an Agatha Christie short story.
1957, original trailer:

Holy shit, what a poor effort.
Love the explosions but.
I've watched it at least 10 times sober, and numerous when drunk!
Oh man I love that movie!
I know it word for word
On any other day, that might seem strange!
You cant fix stupid, turns out you cant quarantine it either!

Yep I agree TP. A fantastic movie and this was when Nicolas Cage was at his peak in featuring in great movies one after another.think positive wrote:What's wrong with you?Nick - Pie Man wrote:Con Air
