The Central Coast Mariners have been crowned Champions of the A-League after defeating the Western Sydney Wanderers 2-0 in the A-League Final. This was the Mariners' fourth Grand Final appearance since the first Final took place in 2006. After three Grand Final defeats, the Mariners have achieved the ultimate prize and kudos to a such well run and professional club.
The Mariners remind of the Sydney Swans and or even Collingwood with the way they've had sustained success and never bottoming out year after year in the A-League. They have a great culture and this victory was well-deserved.
Despite their defeat the Western Sydney Wanderers deserved to be applauded on a great first season. I'm sure they'll be bitterly disappointed after being the minor premiers, but they've certainly built themselves a strong fan base, and there's plenty of positives for the A-League's newest franchise.
