What's the last movie you watched?

I watched Shutter Island for the first time last night, had it for months but hadn't had the chance to watch it. I was surprised, and really enjoyed it.

Tonight, I re-watched The Legend of 1900 with Tim Roth. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LA8v9MamhJE I was surprised when I did a bit of a search of the cast, and such to find it in full on Youtube in full.

Still, it's one of my favourite movies.

I've been spending most of the last 10 days at the Melbourne International Film Festival. Highlights so far have been:

Amour:

The latest work by the ever-brilliant Michael Haneke about the effects of old age on a couple's relationship. Very sad and beautiful film.

Holy Motors:

Very strange movie about an actor being driven around Paris in a limousine and performing various 'jobs' (the trailer doesn't do it justice; seems to be trying to make it look like some kind of action film!). Features Kylie Minogue, of all people, in an extended cameo.

holy motors sounds like an old tom cruise movie remake, he is an assassin and makes someone drive him to jobs

Watched Alice in Wonderland, the Johnny Depp / Tim Burton version last night. The daughter wanted to watch it so I went along.

Tim Burton must have been a weird kid, but him and Depp make a great team. Pity Burton only did a couple of the Batman movies, Depp would have made a great Riddler.

Really liked the style, felt very 80s with the soundtrack and opening credits, but my god the violence is jarring.

I just did not get that movie! Violence for nothing, what was the story? And it's not just I'm pretty deaf and their were no subtitles, my BF has good hearing and didn't get it either.

He is very cute, but not splattered in blood!

Speaking of Ryan Gosling, I just watched Stupid, Crazy Love, with Steve Carrell and Emily Stone (my god isn't she just lovely).,

It was a pretty good feel good movie.. i enjoyed it.

and i have to admit, having never seen ryan gosling's work before.. i always doubted or questioned why he was considered a heartthrob. sure he's good looking but not as a hunk type of man..

well... not anymore. not ashamed to admit , he is a stunning man. very funny too

Was watching Tv last night (SBS) and a short aussie film called Jerry-can came on.
It was filmed in Clunes a few years ago and blow me down, there was my house, there were several ppl i know.
It was the story of bored kids and what lengths they'd go to for some excitement.
It won a jury prize in Cannes in2008.

The link is just a preview, it is available David might know where to find the rest of it.
(the film is only 13 minutes long).

All the scenes were shot with-in a hundred metres of where I live.
(including a nice shot of my house as the kids ride past.)
