mmm maybe! if i get it cheap enough!!ubby01 wrote:@Think positive - It's not that bad. Just a couple of scenes that are little disturbing - don't let that stop you from watching it. It's a good thriller type movie.

A DVD from the US arrived today. Joseph Mankiewicz's "A letter to three wives".
This is an excerpt. It's a ripper:

about to watch '127 hours' based on actual eventsthink positive wrote:man if thats what really happened???
i think its rather loosely based, as in no one tied the knot at all!
though i watched it with our projector, and it was great on the big screen, typical of Camerons work, brilliant
but gees, not much of a happy ending!!
understanding stuff, with endeavour to overstand..

I'll agree and disagree.mandy wrote:The Tree of Life.
Do NOT see it. Ever.
As much as it won't be some people's cup of tea, I honestly liked some of it. I liked the fluidity, along with the removal of boring Hollywood this-happened-then-this-happened storytelling; and found some of the scenes genuinely emotionally affecting. I also liked the left-field leap half an hour in when the film decides to chronicle the creation of the universe and Earth, before casually reverting back to the story at hand about 25 minutes later. For fans of alternative film, video art and 2001: A Space Odyssey, it's probably worth a look.
And yet, I should warn in advance that none of this distracts from the fact that it's an overblown, sometimes nauseatingly sentimental mess that runs about an hour too long. I like Terrence Malick, but he's far from the cinematic god that his reputation suggests. 10,000 slow-motion shots of curtains does not make you Andrei Tarkovsky.
